ON THE HOME FRONT -
ON THE HOME FRONT - DRINKS WITH THE CHURCHILLS
Book your place on the ‘virtual’ “At Home with the Churchills” experience. The event may be virtual but we can send you a bottle of Churchill’s favourite champagne, Pol Roger, to your door. We will then meet online to enjoy an interactive and fun evening.
Winston Churchill is undoubtedly the most famous leader in British history. His success as a war time leader is much admired and well documented but what was he like at home? |
Our talk will look behind the scenes of the life of this great man but also look at the amazing role of his wife, Clementine. We will concentrate on the Churchills from wartime hardships to peace time excesses.
Our conversation will continue and we will unashamedly look at the sheer amount of money Winston spent throughout his lifetime.
“My tastes are simple: I am easily satisfied with the best.”
He certainly did! This famous quote was certainly true. His idea of necessary items includedpale pink silk underwear which he would purchase from the Army & Navy stores. He definitely spent more on looking good than his dear wife. When they were not in London, they spent time at Chartwell, their country house in Kent. We will look at how this house helped save Winston but also what Clementine really thought of it. Nothing is off the table including what they ate, drank and how they got on with their lives away from the limelight.
