High Class - Lowlife
Embark on a thrilling journey through the contrasting worlds of London’s elite and the gritty underworld on this exciting guided walking tour!
Explore the charming and sophisticated clubs of Mayfair and St. James, where leafy streets, elegant houses, and high society thrive. This was the most desirable area of London to live and it still is today. See where the great and good lived including Coco Chanel for a short time whilst in a relationship with one of the world’s wealthiest men, the Duke of Westminster. This is an area of cool, relaxed charm with hidden gardens and boutiques galore.
But our adventure doesn’t stop there: next, we’ll cross the “social divide” of Regent Street, to delve into the notorious realm of Soho. Uncover its dark alleys and ancient streets that once drew immigrants from all corners of Europe and the world from China, Greece, Italy, France and Eastern Europe. These nations have all had an impact especially on the way we eat. These men and women had to battle together against the perils of crime, disease and pestilence of the 19th century. It may sound like a no-go zone but this area of hardship has evolved into one of the most fun areas of London for going out. Visit China Town or the restaurant-lined streets off Piccadilly for food galore and Old Compton Street and environs for music venues and clubs.
