PIES, PINTS AND
These three p’s are quintessentially British; pies are a truly British food, our own-brewed beer has had a far-reaching and surprising impact on the world and nobody does a pub like the British. Fact. We are going to explore the history of our pubs as well as try out some tasty treats. The tour starts with a beer and ends with a pie and a pint at a top pub. The route through Clerkenwell and Farringdon has a high concentration of pubs that not only offer amazing beers but have their own rich and fascinating history.
Where can you find the last beers before Newgate execution? Why are you safe from wraiths and ghosts in this cosy bar? Why are some pubs hidden away in certain parts of London? This tour examines some of London’s more quirky pubs while enjoying some of their traditional fayre and tipples. Beer, without it we wouldn’t have survived. Most Londoners were drinking it in place of water but which London beer became an international favourite? It is easy to forget the impact of pies on the world culinary stage but all will be explained from cherry pie to a good old beef one.
