the great london gin walk
Mention the word Martini and where does your mind go? Do you think of the world of James Bond and a version that was ‘Shaken not Stirred’? Maybe you are one of those sophisticates who like a Dirty Martini. The martini has certainly evolved and we will walk and talk you through its intriguing history from its origins to recent interpretations, many of which have been developed here in London.
The tour will also give you an introduction to the history of London Dry Gin, the chief component to the original Martini and we will also talk about the Martini and WWII and the controversial move away from gin to vodka. The atmospheric walk will lead us through the back streets of London, past the vast edifices of the banks and newspaper conglomerates, through the alleyways of Blackfriars past St Paul’s and into the City proper.
